Childhood friends Blair Junior McFarlane, Sal Di Maio, and Jason Thompson are an entrepreneurial team owning award-winning eateries in Edmonton’s downtown. When the guys approached us to revamp the interior of their hugely popular lounge formerly called Halo, we jumped on board. As patrons of Red Star Pub and MRKT, we knew that the new venue would be something special and unique in Edmonton.
The project to transform Halo into The Bower was not an expansion, a renovation, nor an addition; it was a complete overhaul. Halo was ultra modern with an all-white interior. The Bower is a mature space, striking the perfect balance between hip and sophisticated. The goal: to create one of Edmonton’s warmest hideouts for libations and dancing.
The Bower is clad in wall-to-wall wood paneling and features a Victorian-style bar and décor. Oliver Apt. worked very closely with the guys — from point A to Z. They would say, “It would be cool if…” and “What if we…” and we would try different things to make it happen. The result is best observed with a cocktail in hand while listening to beats spun by DJ Junior Brown.
